Deacon Clifford King

Funeral service for Deacon Clifford King be Saturday, April 8, 2017 at 12:00 noon at Owens Chapel Missionary Baptist Church (2520 Elton Road NW - Huntsville, AL 35810) with Dr. H. Wendell Thompson officiating.  Deacon King will be placed in the church one hour prior to the funeral service.  Interment will be in Valley View Memorial Gardens.
 

Deacon Clifford Earl King, affectionately known as “Bully” by family and dear friends, was born May 29, 1944, in Harvest, Alabama. He reached the sunset of his life’s journey on April 1, 2017. He was the 2nd born to the late Joe Dean King and Annie Rose Leslie-King.

Deacon King gave his life to Christ July 9, 1974 during revival at Owens Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, where Rev. Adolphus Atchison was the speaker. At that time the church was located at 214 Lowry Street in Huntsville, Alabama. He has remained faithful to Owens Chapel’s body of Christ until his health failed beginning in January 2017.

Deacon King served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He was also a faithful employee for National Alamo Car Rental Services for forty plus years. Although his primary job was  maintaining the car rental fleet, he was always available to anyone who needed a word of encouragement and or advice, when they were faced with life’s everyday struggles and uncertainties.

Deacon King was wise beyond years. He was known for giving people sound and wise advice. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Clifford’s big smile and humble heart won the hearts of many.  His quiet demeanor and his kind and loving spirit will be forever cherished by his loving and devoted wife of 17 years, Mrs. Elaine H. King, his children, Kevin Earl, Bridgette, Tango,  and Yolanda McClendon (Huntsville, Alabama), Stephanie Acklin (Huntsville,  Alabama) and Yolanda Jones (Dayton, Ohio); Two sisters, Helen  Walter (Edward Lee) and Doris Lacey, and brother Ezell Ritche (Shirley), a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and family and friends.
